Color Assignment 1
This shade of purple feels as though it's increasingly getting colder. The dark tint in the upper left hand corner slowly brightens into a lighter purple the closer it gets to the center. I start to get a cold feeling from this color as though i'm up north in winter, feeling snow. A sense of numbness comes over me as though to represent the connotation of cold air freezing my body. this particular shade of purple reminds me of what I'd see on the weather channel when they show below freezing temperatures, which makes me nostalgic about something I can only experience so much in my lifetime because I live in a tropical climate.

Assignment 6: We believe that this photograph depicts some sort of Super Market, or possibly even a convenient type store. When looking at the picture it seems as though someone has taken a picture of the stores isles from above, showing all types of products. While the picture was over whelming to look at, it did not emotionally impact us in anyway. While the photograph depicts a vast product range, and color scheme there is no personification that creates emotional ties. It is possible that before taking the picture the photographer noticed the wide of variety of colors and the range of brands through similar products. It is possible that if products were purchased after the photograph was taken, that some of the color and product range would disappear. We believe that this photograph is trying to convey that the United States is a consumeristic society, structured around a monetary agenda. It is possible that the photographer was using the abundance of brands and products to show our opportunities to buy a wide range consumer products, as well the companies profiting from our consumption.
Tom Roda Response:
I thought that he had an interesting background given his family history. He was very inspirational to me in the sense that he wants to use his art to teach his children his own way as opposed to the childhood that his parents gave to him. He seemed to come out more of his shell as opposed to being more private. this is evident in his pictures of children and how they pose for the camera. He gives a sense of how he sees life and I thought that it was very brave of him and unique of him.

Jason Hackett Response:
I thought that he was very entertaining with regards to his work. He uses a lot of religious figures as a form of artistic expression which I find courageous as an artist. I didn't know he didn't make a living using his work. I was very impressed that he teaches at VCU, a prestigious university.

Claire Sherwood Summary
Claire is a talented artsist who doesn't let the judgmental world of art enthusiasts get in her way. she's very proud of her work, which is inspired by her kids in some cases i.e. ice cream cones. Other pieces are similarly viewed as feminist like the birth canal piece. I think this is very interesting because she is able to do what she loves despite others' views. In addition, she likes to use frosting as a tool, which I find to be unique. It balances her intention of adding a girly touch but still remain a serious artist.
